A fine 17th century map of the region. The title is displayed within a decorative cartouche whilst the scale appears within a second cartouche with figure of a surveyor and putti. The dedication is shown in a third cartouche surmounted by a large coat of arms. The map bears an attribution to Timothy Pont whose surveys were used by the Blaeu family to produce the first printed county atlas of Scotland. 22 x 16 1/2 inches. Early hand colouring. Spanish text on verso. Lightly browned all over but fine condition.

Also shown is the southern tip of the Isle of Arran. 8 x10 inches. Original outline hand colouring. Fine clean condition. 1824 edition. Good clean condition with original outline hand colouring.

Three sheets from Cary’s New Map of England and Wales with part of Scotland published in 1824. Each shows just a small portion of land with a large sea area. Towns shown include Dunbar, Duns, Eyemouth, Berwick, Scarborough, Filey, Blyth, Tynemouth and South Shields. Each measures about 8 x 10 inches. Original outline hand colouring. A little very light foxing but other than that good condition.

A fine 17th century engraved map of the southern half of the county of Carrick. Embellished with a decorative cartouche with figures and putti displaying the title and scale. The map bears the name of Timothy Pont from whose survey the map was produced. 20 1/2 x 15 inches. Early hand colouring. A little very light browning in the wide blank margins but really a very nice specimen with large margins, taken straight from the atlas.

From the survey by Timothy Pont whose name appears on the map. Decorative title cartouche. Scale cartouche with two putti. 20 1/2 x 16 1/2 inches, 520 x 420 mm. Fine early hand colouring. Plain on verso. Some extremely light damp staining in the two top blank margin corner otherwsie a nice clean specimen.

Spanish text on verso. A good clean crisp specimen straight from the atlas. Wide blank margins.

The set of four maps each mounted on thin linen with a single central fold. A fine detailed map engraved by Sidney Hall on a scale of 1 inch to the mile. Surveyed by Crawford & Son for the Atlas of Scotland. Imprint of John Thomson beneath dated 1828. Each map measures 24 1/4 x 19 inches. Original outline and wash hand colouring. A little soiling in the blank margins but otherwise good condition.

Some browning around the outer edges of the blank borders but this is hidden by the cream sunk mount that the map is displayed in.

A double sided road map. One side shows the final part f the journey from London to Edinburgh. Starting after you have gone through Moffat and on to Linton and Edinburgh and Leith. Good detail with inns and the names of the owners of houses. The other side shows part of the road from London to Scarborough by Lincoln. Starts at Stilton and then passes through Peterborough, Market Deeping, Bourn and onto Fokingham. Each 3 1/4 x 6 inches. The name of Carington Bowles and the date of 1785 appears beneath each map. Hand coloured. Fine condition.
