YORKSHIRE
A miniature engraved map of the county embellished with a decorative title cartouche and strapwork scale cartouche. 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches. Uncoloured. Most specimens of this map I see are damaged. Probably because it is a folding map in the atlas. Sometimes I have found a copy of the atlas where Yorkshire is the only map missing. This particular specimen is probably better than many I have previously sold. Some tape repairs on verso. 6 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches. Uncoloured. Light rubber stamp impression on verso reading “J. Mortimer, Fimber, Yorkshire”

YORKSHIRE
A detailed engraved map of the county embellished with an uncoloured vignette view of York Cathedral. Explanation and list of hundreds. 14 x 12 1/2 inches. This map has complete original margins with no filled in margin or margin missing in the left hand corner which very often is seen with specimens of this map. Original outline hand colouring. Original vertical fold crease. There is a brown rectangular stain above the tile panel. Caused by a strip of sellotape which was probably used to hold the map in a sunk mount. I have been able to remove the tape. The same brown stain appears on the top of the page of original text that is included with the map. Otherwise the map is is good condition.

This map comes from an early edition of The British Atlas having the publishers address beneath the map as 24 Basing Land London and 18 Fountain Street Manchester

YORKSHIRE
A miniature engraved map of the county embellished with a decorative title cartouche and strapwork scale cartouche. 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches. Attractive hand colouring. Most specimens of this map I see are damaged. Probably because it is a folding map in the atlas. Sometimes I have found a copy of the atlas where Yorkshire is the only map missing. This particular specimen look attractive from the front and is in an old ivory tint sunk mount with line and wash border. Probably good enough to use before framing. I have provided a second photo to show the masking tape repairs on the back. 6 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches. Will look great once the map is framed.
