Beneath is a map of the island of Bunce which shows the castle built by a British slave-trading company circa 1670. Together they measure 6 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches. A copper engraved view of Castle of Elmina on the coast of Ghana, Africa. 12 1/2x 8 3/4 inches. Hand coloured. Original centre fold. Good condition. The print has been mounted on two sheets of thin card.
Elmina Castle was erected by the Portuguese in 1482 and is the oldest European building in existence south of the Sahara. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
