THE CITADEL OF ANTWERP
A small simple plan of the fortifications. Engraved for Luffman's Select Plans. Dated 1801. The panel beneath the plan reads The Citadel of Antwerp, one of the styrongest fortifications in Europe was built by the infamous Philip Alvarez de Toledo, Duke of Alva, by order of Philip 2 of Spain, to keep the Antwerpers in awe. 4.75 x 6 inches, 120 x 150 mm. Early hand colouring. Good condition.

A fine engraved map centred on the towns of Mechelen and Aarschot with Antwerp and Bruxelles. Decorative title cartouche with two female figures, putti and two coats of arms. Scale cartouche with putti. Text cartouche. 20 x 16 inches, 510 x 410 mm. Dutch text on verso. Hand coloured. Small split at the bottom of the centre fold repaired, otherwise good clean condition.

A superb 16th century bird's eye view plan of Antwerp with four costumed figures in the foreground. 18 3/4 x 13 1/4 inches, 475 x 340 mm. Fine early hand colouring. Split at the bottom of the centre fold which extends 2 1/4 inches in the engraved area, otherwise good clean crisp condition.

A plan engraved by J. Basire. One title appears beneath the plan whilst a second which reads ECKEREN A Village in the Netherlands in BRABANT, in the County of RYEM, at which the Confederate Attacked by the French, 30 June, 1703 appears within a rococo cartouche. 18 x 14 1/4 inches. Uncoloured. A small tear in the top blank margin otherwise good condition.
