John Rocque was a prostentant refugee who fled to England from religious persecution in France. His maps are well engraved having a distincive but plain style. They appeared in The English Traveller published in 1746 with later editions in 1753, 1762 and 1764. They also appear in The Small English Atlas and appear again in England Displayed in 1769
