Established in 1961
W. H. Bartlett (William Henry Bartlett, 1809–1854) was a British artist and illustrator best known for his finely detailed steel engravings of landscapes, cities, and historic sites. He traveled widely through Europe, the Middle East, and North America, producing images that combined careful topographical accuracy with a romantic, picturesque style. Bartlett’s work played an important role in shaping 19th-century visual ideas of distant places, especially for readers who encountered the world through illustrated books and travel publications. His engravings are valued today for both their artistic quality and their documentary insight into places as they appeared in the early Victorian era.
