A map of the county being a reworking of Christopher Saxton’s original plate. Many new features appear including a new decorative title cartouche and the addition of an inset town plan of Lancaster with key. Three coats of arms and one blank shield. Royal Arms with supporters. Scale with pair of dividers. 18 3/4 x 15 1/2 inches. Early outline hand colouring. The low price of this map reflects the fact that it has been trimmed down to the edge of the printed border and dry mounted many years ago onto a sheet of card that has now nicely toned. A couple of nicks on the right hand side border but otherwise good condition. |
