27733 Cardigan, John Speed, c.1612. Price: 22.00An engraved plan of the town with strapwork title cartouche, coat of arms and scale. 5 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches. Cut out and mounted on a sheet of old paper. Uncoloured. A little very small surface losss as will be seen from the illustration otherwise good condition. In all the years I have been selling maps I cannot remember ever having the opportunity to sell this plan. For it is the plan of Cardigan that appears on John Speed’s county map of Cardiganshire. For some unknown reason someone has cut this from the folio map and mounted it on paper. Holding it up to the light you can see the English text that appears on the verso. From Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine. |
